Gaia-Wind Mechanical Design Engineer

With a Danish pedigree, 15 years of experience and more than 200 installations, Gaia-Wind has a track record for delivering small wind turbines with a good energy output, a high level of reliability and superior economics.  Our turbines are ideally suited for residential, rural (farm) and light industrial use.


With a forward agenda to grow internationally we moved our centre of operations to the UK. Due to increased customer awareness and demand in the UK market, we are seeking a highly motivated team player to join our Research and Design team at our Glasgow office. Specific responsibilities will include:


Design of mechanical components and systems for Project specific engineering of the Gaia-Wind 11 kW wind turbine, including foundation, towers, new components, designing calculations and drafting

Generation of CAD (Inventor) models and drawings (layouts, assemblies, detail, client etc)

Design, engineer and test improvements to enhance current design and develop new product

Support of internal and external customers on technical queries (This may include some travel in the UK and overseas)

Maintenance of design files & related documentation

Analysis and calculation of the critical components in accordance with applicable standards and requirements

Working within the companies Health, Safety and Environmental requirements/guidelines.


Reporting to our Research, Design & Engineering Manager, the successful applicant will ideally have:


Degree or equivalent qualification in a Mechanical (Design) Engineering

Demonstrable relevant experience in a product development environment, preferably within relevant sectors

Working knowledge of virtual tools: including CAD/SolidWorks

Ability to think in an innovative and creative manner and work independently within a multi-disciplinary team

Good communication with strong analytical skills and a ‘can-do’ attitude.


The successful candidate will receive in house product and skills training.

An attractive salary package is on offer in line with relevant experience.

We are looking for an electrical engineer to join our engineering team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be qualified to a degree level or equivalent in electrical engineering and have previous experience working in the renewable energy sector.
