Gaia-Wind Mechanical Design Engineer
With 15 years of experience, Gaia-Wind has a track record for delivering small wind turbines with a good energy output, high reliability and class-beating economics. Our turbines are ideally suited for rural houses, farms and light industrial use.
While the industry for small wind turbines is growing quickly we want to maintain and expand the technological advantage that our wind turbines offer. We focus on international regulations for the certification of small wind turbines. We want to be the first amongst our competitors to fully comply with the regulations and standards as they emerge.
For our Research, Design and Engineering team in Glasgow we are looking for a Design Engineer with the following duties:
- Design and engineer improvements for the mechanical and electrical systems in the turbine.
- Analyse and calculate the critical components in accordance with applicable standards and requirements.
- Show that the improvements work at our test site.
- Update and maintain the drawing and documentation files.
- Support and liaise with partners, suppliers and institutions.
Reporting to our Managing Director, the successful applicant will:
- Have received training to BSc or MSc level in mechanical engineering.
- Have benefited from training or experience in electrical engineering.
- Have at least 5 years of experience in a similar job, having engineered mechanical and electrical systems.
- Couple theoretical skills to the practical experience that make things work.
- Have the skills and experience with drafting software (Autocad, Solid Edge/ Solid Works) and software tools for analysing and reporting.
- Be experienced in working with standards, codes and certification.
The successful candidate will receive in house product and skills training.
