At the conference BWEA-29 in September 2007 in Glasgow, Gaia Wind presented their view on small wind turbines under the title: ‘How Small wind turbines can make a Big contribution to the renewable obligation’. The presentation and the audio recording are now available on the internet.

Johnnie Andringa, managing director of Gaia-Wind, identified three main hurdles for small wind turbines:

  • Economic
  • Technical
  • Planning

He argued that, provided these three hurdles are properly addressed, small wind turbines can play a significant role in the UK Energy policy.
